FREE TIPS INSIDE: How to navigate the upcoming holidays!

If you are in the United States, Thanksgiving is right around the corner, followed by several December holidays for many of you!

Often times the biggest concerns I hear from clients are:

"What if I gain weight over the holidays"

OR

"The holidays make me anxious about overeating"

And even

"This time of the year is even more stressful for me"

The first step is your MINDSET

Thinking you CAN'T do something is one of the biggest barriers to change.

You might identify yourself as someone whom is:

A. "Someone that Always fails a fitness program"

B. "A caregiver so I cannot take care of me"

C. "My career does not allow time for ME"

D. "Too busy with other life things"

But True Behavior change is... Identity change.

You often start because you are motivated, but you only keep it once it becomes a part of your identity.

Anyone can START a journey, but the key is to KEEP it. Improvements are temporary until they become part of WHO YOU ARE.

Start with identifying yourself as a "healthy eater" or "gym goer"

Next you might identify yourself as:

A. Someone who HAS already stuck to a fitness program for 6 months

B. A busy mom that makes time for herself at 5am everyday so that she is in a better mood for her kids

C. A better focused employee or business owner because you set aside time to take care of YOU

D. Someone who balances all parts of our crazy lives with actually taking care of the ONE LIFE YOU HAVE

Then reframe your thoughts

"I can't stick to a diet"

TRY THIS INSTEAD:

"I am learning how to choose different foods that will help me reach my goals"

Challenge your limiting beliefs

"I hate vegetables"

"I am to busy with the kids"

"I can't get up that early"

REFLECT on these statements - how might these be limiting your choices and behaviors?

Anticipate challenges this upcoming holidays season

Learning how to adapt and understand the barriers is KEY to ongoing progress towards your goals but also have a plan set in place for AFTER a big holiday event. How will you get BACK on track?

Get rid of the ALL OR NOTHING mindset

"I already skipped the gym today so I might as well eat whatever today"

"I couldn't do 2 of the 3 workouts, so I am just going to not do any this week"

"I already ate a piece of pie, so I am going to order take out for dinner"

Have SUPPORT

Having support from others on a similar journey, someone in your household and/or a coach can help with the process. If you do have a coach, and it is ME :) Do not hide away when things get tough, I am not here to impress, I am here to help!
